Study Tips

  1. You can find anything you want to know online. Just be prudent enough not to get yourself into information that is damaging to your character.
  2. I love words. I study them often. My favorite dictionary is The New Oxford American. It sells for around fifty dollars new but I got mine for ten dollars online (all three of them-one for work, one for home and one for my boys). It not only gives a definition, but it also gives you the origin of the word with the language from which we borrowed the word. You would be surprised to find how close you come to the Greek and Hebrew meaning of a word in Scripture just by using a good dictionary.
  3. Try a Bible study program. I use E-Sword and Sword Searcher.
  4. Read a portion of Scripture until something catches your spirit and stop to meditate on it for awhile. Try sometime taking thirty minutes to chew over a thought. I have spent up to three hours on an occasion meditating and talking to myself and God about a particular Scripture and subject matter.
